Below is a link to a proposed legislation stemming from the recent Hood deaths (among others I'm sure). This has an impact on us personnally and professionally. www.leg.state.or.us/07reg/measures/hb2500.dir/hb2509.intro.htmlAs with charging for rescues, I wonder if this type of rule would discourage people from calling for help when they need it in fear of tickets/fines. I'm sure we will talk about this at the next SAR Mtg ... at last months it was briefly spoken to and the MHSAR Council was going to put out a letter in opposition to any such legislation. I'll keep everyone informed. (If your interested in attending any MHSAR meetings, they are the 2nd Monday at 1900hrs at the Sandy Inn, next to Safeway .. all are welcome to come!)

The latest I heard is that the Senate Committee, who is now reviewing the bill, has pretty muched snuffed it. The committee is made up of 5 persons, 3 of which do not support the bill as written. Rocky Henderson says that this means the bill will stop here and not become law.
